I was having a debate the other day where a Christian was accusing athiests of "deifying" science. After pointing out that by definition an athiest could not "deify" anything since a "True Athiest" did not believe in the "diety" part of "deify", it occured to me that we need the word "Sciencify". Which could be defined as:
Sciencify: v
erb transitive to attempt to justify the irrational using scientific methods.
"He tried to sciencify the existence of God through the Big Bang Theory." This is not to be confused with
ScientifyScientify verb transitive (science + suffix ify, from Latin -ficare and -facere, to make or do) - to make something more scientific, to subject to scientific views, rules and concepts.
"He has tried hard to scientify his paper, but it still remains a provocative essay rather than a consistent argument. "
"She has scientified her diet and as a result got a distaste for food. "
