Movie Reviews

Saw The Golden Compass last night. Truly awesome movie. Amazing story. Quasi-steampunk feel was incredibly well done.
Fighting Armored Polar Bears. Flying arrow-slingin sexy witches, Sam Elliott sniping from a nuclear powered dirigible/baloon ship, evil Tartars (Russians), and cool Gyptians (Gypsys)? Hell yes, batman. You could tell they were following a book and had edited as it jumped around a bit, but I can say this, I don't usually get an overwhelming urge to read a set of books after seeing a movie, but I just did. Really spectacular. I would see it again.

Enchanted was also a very good movie. Fun. Had some hillarious edgy moments for a disney flick. I have to admit I found my mind wandering back to the previous movie we had watched (Golden Compass) while watching it, as the first movie had been such a visual feast for the eyes! Enchanted was good, wholesome fair. It can be seen on DVD though with little penalty other than the wait.

Internet, oh how I love thee......

I saw this advertisement on tv a couple of times, and both times I heard the Korn song, which sounded like it might be good, and wanted to find it. I couldn't remember the name of the voice command service (SYNC) to find the ad on Youtube so I googled "Voice Command Car Music" and found sync and then the Youtube ad.

I watched the ad and heard a teensy part of the lyrics, which I then googled with "Korn". One minute later I had the video on iTunes and purchased it. Total elapsed time: 3 minutes, tops.

Friggin awesome. Gotta love the world we live in.

Green Ribbon

The most bizarre thing is happening this year. Green ribbon has ceased to exist.

You know the color green that goes with X-mas? Kind of an emerald green. The green that goes with red on the x-mas tree? There is none at Costco. There is none at the grocery store. There is none at Michaels Craft Center. What.....the.....heck...is.....going......on?

Did China decide that it was going to be a Red christmas and not provide the green ribbon this year? Did the decorators have a strike and fail to tell us that green was cut at the negotiating table? Did Walmart decide to divide it between this year and next? What.....the......heck?

Perhaps Santa decide to declare he was a Blood? I mean the crips are Blue, right? What's up with that? He didn't have to stop the green, did he?

I managed to find some discount rolls of green ribbon from last year. Discount being $3.50 for about an inch of ribbon. Go figure. Perhaps FD&C Green #3 has ran out as a commondity? Was there a run on green M&Ms because everyone was horny under the mistletoe which neutered the supply of green dye? I'm just askin'!

It's a mystery.

If you see any green ribbon....you know where to call!
